Separated
from everyday life two forces are defining the actual reality: Information
Technologies and TIME-industries (Tele- and Info-Communication, Mass-Media,
Entertainment). People remain in a gap in between. Competence based on
Media Education, Culture and Arts will be build up through the CAT network
stimulated by CAT agents. Snoopy CATs go everywhere - just crossing borders.
CAT - the Communication, Art & Technology network is the german internet
based communication platform for digital art and media culture. Experts
and entrepreneurs from the media arts and education, from TIME-industries
and economy exchange experience and create cooperation strategies.
The relatively small but highly creative potential of media artists and
experts needs an infrastructural as well as a financal support. Further
training and education is essential for the CAT community. Governmental
institutions like the DAAD and the Goethe institutes are involved in the
CAT network.
CAT's major task is to survey and connect the unique infrastructure of
new media in Germany so as to be able to convey new working relationships
between media culture and the industry. The corporation between information
technology and the arts - theater, dance, film, architecture, design and
literature - will lead to new processes and productions.
